Since 2015, the Truth Awards has recognized and affirmed the many accomplishments of individuals in the Black LGBTQ+ community and their allies. This movement continues to increase public awareness of Black LGBTQ+ contributions to Society, Popular Culture, Civics, Politics, and the Arts. Throughout its duration, the Truth Awards has presented awards to over 35 individuals including Emmy winners Karamo Brown, Anthony Hemmingway, Taj Paxton, and Loretta Devine. They have also awarded over $35,000 in scholarships to Black LGBTQ+ students pursuing post-secondary education. Many celebrities such as Dwyane Wade, Gabrielle Union, Sherri Shepherd, Tisha Campbell, Simone Missick, and more have joined the celebration to show their support of the LGBTQ+ community.
